The Efficacy of Therapeutic Use of Play on Improving Attention Span of Mild Intellectually Disabled Children

Objectives: This study aimed to determine the efficacy of therapeutic use play on improving attention span children with Mild Intellectual Disability (MID) in elementary school. Methods: was a quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test control group so that 30 girls MID were selected from an exceptional school Tehran City, Iran, via convenience sampling method and assigned experimental groups. The all subjects assessed by Toulouse-Pieron test Cognitive Diagnostic Battery (CDB) before after sessions. participated 16 sessions (35 minutes for each session) 8 weeks, but did not. analysis covariance (ANCOVA) used analyze data. Results: mean±SD age 9.80±1.32 9.73±1.22 groups, respectively. In addition, mean varied 7.60 18.78 sessions, significant difference (P<0.001) observed between groups relating span. According Eta quotient, 94% variation is due participating intervention Discussion: Therapeutic effective improve MID. Therefore, can be applied academic performance students reduce negative outcomes inattention.
